Farm Trivia
1. Until 1936, all Farmall Tractors were gray in color. From 1936 on, Farmall Tractors were painted red.
2. Corn is the largest crop harvested in the Americas.
3. There are 4,840 square yards in an acre of land. There are 43,560 square feet in an acre of land.
4. Goats milk is the most consumed milk in the world.
5. Hernando Desoto, the famous Spanish explorer, brought the first pig to North America in 1539.
6. The Pilgrims brought the first cow in 1611 to the Jamestown Colony.
7. The state of California has the most milk cows in the US, while Texas has the most beef cattle.

Where Were You When...?

I was working on a small dairy farm in Somers, CT. We had a concrete silo without an unloader, I had just climbed down out of the silo after forking down some corn silage. The radio was playing in the barn and a special report came on. I remember standing there with the cows listening, stunned... Joe Davis, IMTF.

On January 28, 1986, I was on my way to pick up my "official" photographs for a 1986 North Carolina Senate campaign. (Which I lost in November.) I lived in New Bern, North Carolina but the photographer was located in Havelock, which is the home of Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station. The shuttle pilot, Michael J. Smith, was from nearby Beaufort, North Carolina. I attended his memorial service.

Check out this slideshow Joey and Justin Davis put together of the 2011 Washington county New York Fair super stock tractor pull, its great! My son Joey is 14 and his cousin Justin is 15. I think they did a great job! If you have any info on these tractors and or there owners please pass it along, I'd love to know the history and the specs of these tractors. I'd also be interested in knowing about the people who build these monsters , what do they do? Are they farmers? I bet theres some pretty cool stories to be told!
